Known as the “Red Poppy Capital Of Texas,” the city of Georgetown, Texas, will mark the spring season by celebrating its signature red poppies with the 18th Annual Red Poppy Festival. The festival encompasses three days of concerts, parades, contests, art, food and family fun in the downtown area. Georgetown is one of the few places in the United States where red poppies grow naturally every year. Red poppies have been a part of Georgetown’s landscape for more than 70 years.

Austin Resource Recovery, a City of Austin service, is working to reach Zero Waste by 2040, which means reducing the amount of trash sent to landfills by 90 percent. The Home Composting Rebate Program supports Austin’s Zero Waste goal by educating residents about how to keep food scraps, yard trimmings and food-soiled paper out of the landfill. Learn how to improve the quality of your soil, and spend less time and money fertilizing and watering. We look forward to seeing you!

Oenophiles and chocoholics, rejoice! Join us for our first-ever wine and chocolate pairing at Lenoir’s romantic outdoor wine garden. We’ll be pairing our chocolates with fine wines selected by Lenoir’s Beverage Director, Chris Kelly, at one of Austin’s favorite restaurants. Our own Tessa Halstead and Kelly will educate attendees about fine wine and chocolate, and will guide attendees on how to properly pair and taste these two together.

Attendees are encouraged to come downtown early and enjoy our monthly First Friday Art Walk, and visit 13 participating locations. For $25 dollars’ participants will get entry into 6 downtown locations where they can choose to sample 5 different Cinco de Mayo inspired libations. Food will be available for purchase at each location.
