Back by popular demand, Hot Luck Festival returns for year two on May 24–27. Named Austin’s “best festival” in its inaugural year, the backyard traveling party will celebrate all things food and music. Created and founded by James Beard Award-winner Aaron Franklin, Guerilla Suit principal and Mohawk owner James Moody, and Mike Thelin, co founder of Feast Portland, this Texas-sized get-together is the true Austin festival experience blending world-class culinary talent and live music. Hot Luck is also excited to welcome Munchies as its national media partner.

Tour our gardens and trails with a knowledgeable volunteer docent and learn about native plants and the history and architecture of the Center. Each of our docents bring their own special knowledge and interests to the tour, and sites change throughout the seasons. Garden tours are always free with admission to the gardens; inquire at the Admissions Kiosk!

Get swept up in shopping while Mariachi Alma de Tejas, a student led band out of UT Austin, serenades you with songs of love. Head over to the photobooth to snap a pic with your friends, or just hang out on the lawn sipping on lemonade as you listen to Tejano Band Ricardo Negreto Y Los Diamantes. Head to the deck at 10:30am to wish the market many more, witness the cake cutting (free cake for everyone!), and let the kiddos go wild on some piñatas.

Michelle Hernandez Founder of the Funky Chicken Coop Tour and President of Urban Poultry Association of Texas, presents “Backyard Chickens 101.”Come hear Michelle talk all about raising chickens! Chickens not only provide tasty, nutritious eggs, but they are also great pets: interesting, communicative, smart in their own way, and very humorous. This class is part of the Austin Resource Recovery Chicken Keeping rebate program. The Chicken Keeping Rebate Program supports Austin’s Zero Waste goal by educating residents about how to keep food scraps, yard trimmings and food-soiled paper out of the landfill.
