No gardening experience necessary . . . we provide the instruction and all the supplies, all you have to worry about is having a great time.

Providing scholarships to young musicians at School of Rock Austin enriches not only the lives of the student and teacher, but enriches the heart of Austin’s music community as well.

Our Annual Tomato Dinner, benefiting Springdale Center for Urban Agriculture and Slow Food Austin, will highlight a variety of types and preparations of home-grown tomatoes from the farm. The evening will begin with a seasonal cocktail and appetizers, followed by entree courses and a plated dessert. A selection of wines from the Slow Wine Guide, all from Italian producers who make quality wines with respect for the environment, biodiversity, traditional grape varieties, and their local areas, will be included with the meal.

Edge will be speaking on & signing his new book The Potlikker Papers: A Food History of the Modern South. The book tells the story of food and politics in the South over the last half century. Beginning with the pivotal role of cooks in the Civil Rights movement, noted authority John T. Edge narrates the South’s journey from racist backwater to a hotbed of American immigration. In so doing, he traces how the food of the poorest Southerners has become the signature trend of modern American haute cuisine. This is a people’s history of the modern South told through the lens of food.

In 1986, Neal Newsom and his wife, Janice, along with his mother, Laverne, planted 5,000 Cabernet Sauvignon plants on 5 acres. Today, the family has 92 bearing acres that produce nearly 400 tons of grapes annually. Many award-winning wines have been produced from Newsom’s grapes, and they were the first to plant Tempranillo in the state. At this special tasting event, enjoy hors d’oeuvres paired with 6 vintages of Tempranillo from Newsom Vineyards – 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2014 – along with barrel samples from 2015 & 2016.
