Corn Bread

Corn Bread


For 8 Person(s)


  • 3/4 cups cornmeal
  • 3/4 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoons baking power
  • 1 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/3 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Corn Bread Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°.
  2. Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
  3. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add egg and milk. Melt butter in an 8-inch cast-iron skillet in hot oven. Stir butter into batter, then pour batter into hot pan.
  4. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
