Baked Figs with Honey and Spiced Goat Cheese

For 4 Person(s)

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 3/4 cups goat cheese
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1/2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 12 ripe figs
  • 4 tablespoons honey

Baked Figs with Honey and Spiced Goat Cheese Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°.
  2. Lightly butter the bottom of a medium-size shallow baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the goat cheese with the lemon zest.
  4. Chop the pecans into coarse pieces and, in a different bowl, mix with the cinnamon and ground cloves.
  5. Cut off the hard part of the stems on the figs, then cut a cross vertically into the top of each fig—taking care not to cut all the way through. Place the figs upright on the oiled pan and gently push apart their four quarters—making a little room in the middle of each.
  6. Place about ½ teaspoon of butter into the center of each fig. Drizzle the honey over the figs and place in the oven.
  7. Bake about 10 minutes, then transfer the figs to a serving platter.
  8. Place a tablespoon of the goat cheese mixture in the middle of each fig, top with the chopped pecans and serve warm or at room temperature.
