Edible Austin
is a community-based quarterly publication that promotes the abundance of local foods, season by season. Our mission is to transform the way our community shops for, cooks, eats and relates to the food that is grown and produced in and around Austin and the Central Texas Hill Country. We celebrate local, sustainable, seasonal, authentic foods and culinary traditions.

Through our publication, website, and events, we connect consumers with local growers, retailers, chefs and food artisans—enabling those relationships to grow and thrive in a mutually beneficial, healthful and economically viable way. The fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry, cheese and other artisanally produced foods they bring to the table are what make our community an interesting and healthy place to live. Edible Austin is for people who are interested in:

  • Eating and growing delicious, locally grown, seasonal foods
  • Getting to know the people who grow, produce, cook, sell and serve those foods
  • Discovering great dining, day trips, wines and winemakers, food events and festivals, books to read and products to try

 Marla Camp

Marla Camp

Edible Austin owner/publisher MARLA CAMP is a passionate cook, artist and food enthusiast who believes in the power of print to build community and effect change. She was born and raised in Texas, then left to go to college "up north" where she worked for over 20 years in publishing. There she met her future husband who convinced her to relocate to Austin, which she considers one of her best decisions. Today Marla and husband Jeff Kessel cook together—and for friends and family—garden year-round, and enjoy their growing community of like-minded foodies. In addition to publishing Edible Austin, she is the owner and creative director of Impact Productions, an award-winning full-service graphic design firm specializing in print and interactive publication and package design. Through her business and her board memberships on local arts and community service groups, she has gotten to know and appreciate the Austin community's joie de vivre.

She is excited to bring this publication concept to Austin—to inform and entertain readers about sustainable living through locally grown food and locally owned food businesses.
