3/4 cups cornmeal
3/4 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour
1 tablespoons baking power
1 tablespoons sugar
1/3 teaspoons salt
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cups milk
2 tablespoons butter
Corn Bread Directions
Preheat oven to 425°.
Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add egg and milk. Melt butter in an 8-inch cast-iron skillet in hot oven. Stir butter into batter, then pour batter into hot pan.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
