(Skip this step if your skin is extremely sensitive or prone to broken capillaries.) Bring 3 quarts of water to a boil then remove from heat. Add ½ cup of dried herbs (any combination of chamomile, rose petals, lavender buds, peppermint leaf, rosemary or fresh citrus peels such as orange or lemon). Cover the pot and steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the cover and place your face about 12 inches above the pot—drape a towel over your head to create a tent, and let the steam bathe your face for a few seconds. Lower the towel and raise your head to breathe some fresh air, then repeat for a total of 5 to 10 minutes.
